Bred by Ongweh Ias (aka Phil Seneca) of Good Mind Seeds, USA, Turtle Heart is named in honour of the turtle, a sacred animal to the Seneca people or Onöndowaʼga꞉ʼ, and the strength of heart it has in crossing the ocean to reach its breeding grounds. The tomato is a two-bite cherry / saladetter type, with an rusty bronze exterior and a green interior. It has fantastic, tangy and fruity flavour and excellent disease resistance.
Ongweh says: A turtle heart will beat for long after it is removed from the turtle. This tomato is named after a metaphor for members of my nation who have been forcibly removed by one means or another yet who still retain the heartbeat of the culture and nation within them.
