Stupice (pronounced Stoopitsa), a Czech heirloom bred in the 1940s by Jaroslav Homola, is a round, red, 2 inch salad tomato which often develops green shoulders. The plants are indeterminate, potato leaf, and quite compact. They are early croppers, great producers outdoors, and are hardy and disease resistant. And best of all, regardless of weather conditions, they are packed with juicy, rich and bright, old-fashioned tomato flavour. Stick a row of them on your allotment, or just one plant in a big pot on your patio. You won't be disappointed!
Indeterminate plants are vigorous plants with a vining tendency. They set their fruits at intervals along their stems, and will readily grow side shoots and suckers (shoots from ground level). They need good, strong support, and it is advisable to remove the majority of the side shoots and suckers unless you have plenty of space and fertile soil to allow them to grow to their full potential.
