What a beautiful heart this one is! Another gorgeous offering from Sofia Saakova, Sergeant Pineapple is a large uniform heart with slight ribbing at the top. Coloured in yellow, pink, orange, and anthocyanin, this variety changes constantly as it ripens, making it stunningly beautiful and varied throughout its development. The interior is a rich, golden orange with gorgeous pink streaks which increase as the fruit ripens. Flavour is robust, balanced and fruity, production is high and the fruits are large, easily up to 400g. It's gorgeous sliced thickly for a tomato salad, and the fruits are really meaty so great for sauces and canning too!

Indeterminate plants are vigorous plants with a vining tendency. They set their fruits at intervals along their stems, and will readily grow side shoots and suckers (shoots from ground level). They need good, strong support, and it is advisable to remove the majority of the side shoots and suckers unless you have plenty of space and fertile soil to allow them to grow to their full potential.
