Red Siberian is a Russian heirloom, suspected to have been developed for commercial growing, although little is known about its origin. Plants are determinate and low growing, requiring a tomato cage or similar. They would be well suited to pot cultivation, and are heavy producers of very tasty, round, red saladettes which last well on the vine and the counter. Flavour is well blanced and texture is meaty and juicy.
Determinate plants have a bushy habit and should not be pruned. They will set all of their fruit at the same time, at the end of each branch. Smaller determinates, under 1m or so, will be happy in a 12-14lt pot, and are very well suited to planters and raised beds. They are great plants to have outside the back door, for casual snacking as well as bringing indoors to use.
