Notorious

£4.50

Bred by Bill Yoder, affectionately known as the rockstar of tomatoes, as part of his Duran Duran series. Notorious is one of those tomatoes that you just can’t walk past in the garden. The big, purple fruits are heavily ribbed, and very eye-catching. And the flavour really backs up the looks, too, having all of that classic, rich, umami tomato flavour that I have come to expect from purple/brown/dark fruits. The cut is smooth, revealing meaty and juicy flesh, with plenty of gel. These are so versatile, eat them fresh for the best caprese salad you ever had, or turn them into unbelievable passata or sauce.

Indeterminate, regular leaf, mid-late season

Indeterminate plants are vigorous plants with a vining tendency.  They set their fruits at intervals along their stems, and will readily grow side shoots and suckers (shoots from ground level).  They need good, strong support, and it is advisable to remove the majority of the side shoots and suckers unless you have plenty of space and fertile soil to allow them to grow to their full potential.  See the guide on pruning indeterminates in the resources section of the website for tips.

Sow Jan-April indoors

10-15 open-pollinated seeds
