Occasionally mislabeled as Diamond Legs, this tomato was developed by Tad Smith, USA, and named after the infamous Irish-American gangster of the prohibition era “Legs” Diamond, also known as Gentleman Jack.
This is a stunning variety, with the biggest potato-leaf foliage I have ever seen. A high producer of mid-sized, red and gold striped beefsteaks. Thin skin, smooth flesh that literally melts in your mouth, and SO MUCH FLAVOUR!! This is absolutely top of the list of red tomatoes I have ever eaten! Meaty, fruity, balanced, extremely punchy traditional tomato flavour but with a real savouryness, umami, like you don't need to season this one at all, followed up by a punch of sweetness on the end.
Indeterminate growth, potato leaf, mid-season
Indeterminate plants are vigorous plants with a vining tendency. They set their fruits at intervals along their stems, and will readily grow side shoots and suckers (shoots from ground level). They need good, strong support, and it is advisable to remove the majority of the side shoots and suckers unless you have plenty of space and fertile soil to allow them to grow to their full potential.
