Sofia's Ginger Comet
One of my favourites from the 2025 season, Ginger Comet is a fast growing, strong, high yeilding plant producing big orange hearts striped with antho, which look fantastic and taste as good as they look. Tonnes of flavour packed into very meaty, dense flesh. More like eating a mango than a tomato. Tatjana Nagle’s selection from a variety from Sofia Saakova. Ginger comet is potentially unstable, due to it being a recent split, but it has shown to be stable in our garden.
Indeterminate, high yeild, regular wispy leaf, mid season
Indeterminate plants are vigorous plants with a vining tendency. They set their fruits at intervals along their stems, and will readily grow side shoots and suckers (shoots from ground level). They need good, strong support, and it is advisable to remove the majority of the side shoots and suckers unless you have plenty of space and fertile soil to allow them to grow to their full potential. See the guide on pruning indeterminates in the resources section of the website for tips.
Sow Jan-April indoors
Height Band G
10-15 open-pollinated seeds
