Cherry Cascade is a determinate bush producing long strings of red cherry tomatoes. I grew it in a large (16”) hanging basket, and it did well. It is a bigger plant than some, and it does grow upwards to about 60cm, so hang it somewhere with good clearane, or grow it in a raised pot. That said, it produces a lot of really consistent fruit and is a brilliant snacking tomato.
Determinate plants have a bushy habit and should not be pruned.They will set all of their fruit at the same time, and if you look after them, you may get several flushes in the same season.When growing cascading varieties in hanging baskets, care must be taken to make sure that the soil is kept moist, but not waterlogged. Baskets can easily dry out in warm weather, causing the compost to become hyrdophobic. As with all container gardening, feed them regularly for the best growth and harvest.Managed well, they will reward you all season long, and are great plants to have outside the back door, for casual snacking as well as bringing indoors to use.
