This is not the wild tomato, Solanum cheesmaniae, and it is unclear whether it carries some of those genetics since origin is unknown. That said, it is an excellent mini dwarf for containers, beds and borders. Growing to around 40cm tall, with a fairly loose growth habit and the small leaves that are typical of wild-type genetics, these plants seem to be determinate, setting and ripening a huge quantity of small, elongated yellow cherry tomatoes in a relatively short space of time. Fruits are thin skinned, and pop in your mouth in a very pleasing way. The flavour is fruity and tangy with plenty of sweetness.
Determinate plants have a bushy habit and should not be pruned. They will set all of their fruit at the same time, at the end of each branch. Smaller determinates, under 1m or so, will be happy in a 12-14lt pot, and are very well suited to planters and raised beds. They are great plants to have outside the back door, for casual snacking as well as bringing indoors to use.
