Black Keyes

£4.50

A nearly completely black cherry tomato! Grown in full sun, these gorgeous little bitesize, pearshaped fruits are very prolific and take on the full potential of their anthocyanin colouring. The bases of mine remained streaked with red when ripe, giving hint of what they might look like grown under cover. These are really delicious, with flavours reminiscent of a purple/chocolate fruit, and none of that soapy antho taste that some varieties have. Developed by Dean Slater as part of the Reverend Michael Keyes series. Indeterminate, regular leaved plants, early-mid season production and prolific all season!

Indeterminate plants are vigorous plants with a vining tendency.  They set their fruits at intervals along their stems, and will readily grow side shoots and suckers (shoots from ground level).  They need good, strong support, and it is advisable to remove the majority of the side shoots and suckers unless you have plenty of space and fertile soil to allow them to grow to their full potential.  See the guide on pruning indeterminates in the resources section of the website for tips.

Sow Jan-April indoors

10-15 open-pollinated seeds
